Hearts Shouldn’t Shake, Rattle, and ROLL!
We help AFIB patients stay away from the ER and out on the dance floor by focusing on critical touchpoints.
Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) is a common heart rhythm disorder that causes the heart to beat irregularly and often too fast. While some people notice symptoms like heart palpitations, shortness of breath, or fatigue, others may not feel anything at all—making education and ongoing monitoring essential. Left unmanaged, AFib can increase the risk of serious complications, including stroke and heart failure. With the right support and care, many people with AFib are able to live full, active lives.
Legacy’s approach to AFib care is centered on education, prevention, and personalized support. Our clinical team closely monitors heart rhythm and rate while performing regular vital sign checks to help identify changes early. We also provide comprehensive anticoagulation education, focusing on medication safety, adherence, and understanding why blood thinners are often a critical part of AFib management. Helping patients feel confident and informed about their treatment plan is a key part of our care model.
Because AFib significantly increases stroke risk, Legacy places a strong emphasis on stroke prevention and early recognition. Patients and caregivers receive clear teaching on the warning signs of stroke using the FAST method—Face drooping, Arm weakness, Speech difficulty, and Time to call 911—so action can be taken without delay. In addition, we work with patients to identify and manage common AFib triggers such as caffeine, dehydration, illness, and stress, empowering them to make daily choices that support heart health.
At Legacy, AFib care goes beyond monitoring—it’s about partnership. By combining clinical oversight with practical education and ongoing encouragement, we help patients better understand their condition, reduce risks, and maintain independence with confidence.
