Home for the Holidays: Part 1 – Staying Healthy Before the Holidays Hit
As the holiday season approaches, schedules fill up, to-do lists grow, and it’s easy to let healthy habits slip. But the best gift you can give yourself—and your loved ones—is good health. At Legacy Home Health Care, we encourage our patients and families to start preparing early for a healthy, joyful holiday season.
Adjusting to the Time Change
When clocks “fall back,” shorter days and longer nights can disrupt sleep and energy levels. To ease the transition, try keeping a consistent bedtime and wake-up schedule—even on weekends. Spend time outside during daylight hours to help your body adjust and improve your mood. Proper rest strengthens your immune system and helps you better manage stress.
Eat Smart Through the Season
From early celebrations to Thanksgiving traditions, tempting treats seem to appear everywhere. While it’s fine to enjoy your favorites, balance is key—especially for patients managing diabetes, high blood pressure, or heart conditions. Limit added sugars and sodium, choose high-fiber foods, and keep hydrated with water instead of sugary drinks. Planning healthy meals now can make a big difference later.
Start the Season Strong
By focusing on sleep, nutrition, and balance this month, you’ll set yourself up for a holiday season full of energy, joy, and good health.
At Legacy Home Health Care, we believe preparation is part of prevention. Stay tuned next month for Part 2 of our “Home for the Holidays” series, where we’ll share tips for staying well through the new year!
